- Change every password, and turn on two-step sign-in on every account.
- Take the old owner off the domain, the hosting, Analytics and every other account. They can stay in until you remove them.
- Check that the domain is in your name, and that its renewal and payment details are yours.
- Make a full backup of the site.
- Apply for your own ad and payment accounts if the site uses them.
A sale does not by itself stop the old owner from starting the same kind of site again or keeping a copy. If that matters to you, agree it in writing before you pay.
